I was counseling a woman who had come in for help with her 15-year-old daughter. Her daughter had terrible bowels and could not eat anything without getting sick. She had no energy, had been pulled from school, and sat inside on the computer and TV. She had once been active on sports teams and had many friends, but now, she was miserable.
She had been labeled by the doctors with the typical diagnoses of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, but nothing they offered was helping. We talked about diet, how often she was in the sun, walking outside, on the phone, where the smart meter was located, and more.

6 TIPS TO ALLEVIATING KNEE PAIN by Amy Sprouse
Hello! This is Karen’s daughter Amy, and I’m passionate about exercise and the physical care side of treating our bodies. Eating right is important, but some parts of the body simply REQUIRE particular movement and attention to function properly.
Growing up, physical movement for me looked like lightsaber battles on the grass, playing horse with my little sisters, or pick-up football, frisbee, and kickball games on patch of land next to our house. Since my family conveniently has enough people in it to make up two teams (with the helpful addition of two neighbor boys), mom and dad legendarily spray-painted various sports fields onto the grass next to our house and even installed a huge field goal. They should win an award for that right? We were set for our whole childhood (until the field was ruthlessly turned into a giant vegetable garden).

I took a favorite raw cookie recipe from our cafe and tweaked it to have no grain, this is it!
My son-in-law Dax and our sweet Julia (newlyweds) stopped by just after I made these YUMMY raw cookies! Dax, a wonderful chef, exclaimed, “I love these cookies!” As they had no name…..I just named them after him! Love you Dax! (we do have the most amazing children-in-laws ever....)
ENJOY These Protein Rich Gluten & Grain Free Cookies!
Dax Loves These Seed Cookies
4 cup Sunflower Seeds
2 cups Pumpkin Seeds
Process/pulse into meal in a food processor
Put into bowl and add:
½ cup chia seed
½ cup flax seed meal (grind flax seeds in a blender for 10 seconds)
½ cup hemp seed
2-3 tea. Karen’s Perfect Baking Spice (pg.30 Living in Rawality)
Process in a blender:
4 tea vanilla extract
2 tea almond extract
1 cup (plus a little) soaked raisins (drained)
½ cup honey
½ cup liquified coconut oil

BLEND AND BAKE CAULIFLOWER PIZZA CRUST
Combine in a blender the following:
5-6 cups cubed cauliflower, 2 teaspoons Karen’s Pizza seasoning (pg.28 Living in Rawality), 1/4 of an onion, 3 TB non-fortified Nutritional Yeast, 6 eggs or egg replacer, 3 TB coconut oil, 1/3 cup flax seed meal, 1 cup almond flour. BLEND and spread evenly onto 2 cookie or pizza sheets. It may seem runny, BUT it bakes up perfectly! Bake at 345 degrees for 15 minutes. Top with toppings...

In my experience as a business leader, people complain a lot and about a lot of different things. I sometimes find myself getting complaining too. Last night was a night to remember for me. No, it wasn’t the gorgeous scene of eating at Cliffside Restaurant. No, it wasn’t reuniting with my sister and fine-dining together after 20 months of living on opposite sides of the world. And it wasn’t even our super charming discount-giving server, Austin.
It was that my pants couldn’t even unzip far enough to relieve the bloating in my abdomen, and my mood became strangely pessimistic that night and into this morning.
That pessimism didn’t just come from falling off my healthy eating kick with fries and a root beer float, though. It was influenced by a chemical reaction that happened in my gut. Oils from deep fried foods and sugars in sweets interfere with the body’s ability to properly produce hormones and neurotransmitters, responsible for our mood and happiness.
The reality is, our food culture is setting us up for mental health failure. But we can do our part to set ourselves up for success!...
